Meeting on the ledge

(or why I don't get out much…..)

Siris cross-catalogue searching

I was only talking about this kind of thing when Siris popped up! It metasearches across all the Smithsonian’s databases and allows faceted searching. Its all based on the open engines Lucene and Solr so it shows what is possible to us all (provided you have a team of developers!). Even better, one of the databases it cross-searches is Horizon. I wonder if SirsiDynix are taking notes?
