Meeting on the ledge

(or why I don't get out much…..)

Library and Information show

I went to the Library and Information show at the NEC in Birmingham yesterday.  Wandering round the stands, it was good to see that the LMS suppliers at last seem to have realised that they need to improve their search systems.  As usual I think Ex Libris were first out of the box with Primo, but SirsiDynix are also working on one and III have Encore. There’s even Aquabrowser which I think by origin didn’t  come from one of the LMS suppliers, and some libraries have even developed their own, such as North Carolina.  Maybe things are improving? At last we’re taking into account that information comes in a variety of formats, and that people search in different ways.
