OPAC survey

Dave Pattern has put up a survey of what features we’re looking from on our OPACs here which I’d suggest you contribute to. He’s already got some very interesting results and promises some revelations when he does his seminar at the Library and Information Show later this month. For those of us who aren’t able to be there he’s also promised to write it up. Interim results seem to be revealing significant frustration amongst library staff and users that I’m not sure the LMS suppliers are fully aware of (and this comment is aimed generally not just at SirsiDynix). Maybe there is some complacency because it is so expensive to change to a new system that few of us are moving, but I think recent developments such as the failure of Horizon 8 and the Ex Libris takeover of Endeavour may shake this up? I hope so, because static boring library OPACs are the last thing we need when we already have an image problem.
